Prenatal diary: How I fought gestational diabetes?

Starting with the double lines, on a home pregnancy test, the next eight months are physical and emotional roller coaster for any pregnant woman. My first trimester was about accepting the changes. We will talk about those in some other post. The second trimester, I thoroughly enjoyed. I started looking pregnant, I had no cravings but I enjoyed cooking specials and treating myself. I once made a ginormous burger and ate it until my soul satiated. Unfortunately, the third trimester ended the honeymoon period and complications struck. One of them was gestational diabetes. Gestational diabetes is a condition characterized by an elevated level of glucose in the blood during pregnancy and is typically resolved after the birth. For obvious reasons, my family and I got worried. As suggested by my gynecologist, I consulted the endocrinologist. After studying my case, she suggested either starting the insulin right away or tweaking my routine and monitoring sugar levels twice every day until de

Excerpt from a mother's diary #2

The day my son was born, I decided I will be a super mom. I will take care of him, manage the chores along with my job. After three months, I limited my responsibilities to my kid and the office. Today when he is six and half months old, I'm only able to look after my son. The thought of resuming the office is giving me goosebumps. But this is not the actual cause of my concern. I'm scared of judgments and losing my financial independence. I'm worried if I won't work I'll be deemed a loser. I will be relying on someone else for my expenses. People will judge me for being educated yet just a homemaker. So many suggestions will pour in. "You should have hired a full-time maid." "Grandparents could have taken care of the baby." "Leave child at daycare." "So many working mothers manage, why can't you?" I know I'm making a big deal out of it. So many women around the globe are managing their job with babies. Hats off to the

Kids stories #1 : Prayu and the bear

One fine morning, Prayu decided to to go for a walk in the nearby jungle. He didn't want to change his clothes so he went out in his night dress.  When he reached the middle of the jungle, a huge bear appeared in front of him. Bear loved Prayu's night dress. "Leave your dress here little boy." demanded the bear. "Otherwise what you will do big bear?" mocked Prayu. "I will take it from you." "For that first you have to catch me, Mr. bear." Prayu said and started running as fast as he can. The bear kept chasing him.  After half an hour Prayu was tired. He remembered a lesson from his class and climbed up a mango tree.  Bears cannot climb, he waited beneath the tree in frustration. Prayu teased the bear and sat comfortably on the tree, ate mangoes and slept there for a while.  When Prayu woke up, he saw that the bear was gone. He started jumping and dancing to celebrate his victory. But he lost balance and fell. When Prayu opened his eyes, h

Review: Urban Company Pain Relief Massage...!

Disclaimer: This is not a sponsored review.  I am someone who plans to get a massage in an aromatic spa on her every vacation but always cancels because she doesn't like to be touched by strangers *rolling eyes*. I even skipped my postpartum massages for the same reason. But to initiate this year with some new experience, I booked a home massage through Urban Company. I made some clicks, selected a massage (by reading their descriptions on the app), and voila!!! A day before the D-day, a masseuse was assigned, Jessica. I read her reviews, which clinched my desire to cancel the booking. Someone wrote: “ masseuse from heaven ”. I have to try this. Jessica and I exchanged a few messages on the UC app to confirm the booking and address. She arrived 15 minutes before the scheduled time. I escorted her to the room. I kept it ready for the purpose. Clean calm, with perfect temperature and aroma, and dimly lit (I used a heater to warm it up a bit and sprayed curtains with my deodorant).
